Mined in China, Black Gold Amazonite is made up of three types of stone: Amazonite, Tourmaline, and Pyrite. Amazonite is a blue-green variety of microcline (a feldspar mineral) that is used as a semi-precious stone. Tourmaline, which is made of boron and aluminum silicate minerals, is commonly found black in color (as it is here). If you take a closer look in to the blacker regions of the stone you will find Pyrite or "Fool's Gold". With touches of white and brown highlights, Black Gold Amazonite reminds me of mostly clear skies over cool mountain air. |
