"The Sea Turtle is a very old wise creature who has lived on earth even before the dinosaurs, probably contributing to so many indigenous peoples legends. Iroquois people believe the Turtle as a symbol of the continent of North America, called Turtle Island. Some Polynesian stories tell of "Great Mother Turtle" finding a place to rest in the middle of the ocean, her back becoming the islands and the sandy beaches. There are 7 species of Sea Turtles, all endangered due to things like pollution, and development and destruction of their nesting beaches. Look inside carefully, and you will find the shy Octopus, Dragonfly, and Whales. Look deeper and you will find sleeping Pele~ the Hawaiian Goddess of fire. Don’t forget to find the Ladybug, she will bring to you prosperity and happiness! " These Acrylic (Clear, Unmounted appx. 3"x4" to fit on Acrylic Blocks) Stamps are created from the art work of Sue Coccia, a Northwest Native interested in Animal conservation. According to Sue: According to Sue: "With proper care clear stamps will likely outlive their owners. The fact is that the photopolymer used for making clear stamps was originally used and in many cases is still used for commercial business stamps. That means the FAXED TODAY, RECEIVED ON, commercial stamps used by banks and post offices - the dies are mostly all made with photopolymer. The business stamps used in a commercial environment get used 10 to 40 or more times per day. These commercial stamps - even when being used multiple times per day often last 10 - 15 and even 20 years. Actually, folks end up changing the data they need to stamp before the stamp ever wears out. So if you compare that kind of abuse to the limited use a stamp gets in the creative stamping and scrapbooking applications - it's easy to see where the stamps could last for 20 -30 years or more. Also, solvent inks and cleaners will attack the photopolymer if left in contact with it. As long as they are cleaned immediately - it's not a problem to use solvent inks." Sue says: "I don't recommend using solvent cleaners - the best cleaner for any stamp, clear or rubber is Ultra Clean." ***Note: Image shown is the artists colored version, you will receive the stamp only.*** looks like this, clear blocks available on website soon. |
