After an especially pleasant and romantic trip to the coast I was inspired to put this piece together. Inspired by something I saw on Facebook that also used wine corks, it occured to me that the cork I saved from our trip would be perfect to use in a Nunn bezel for the center of the necklace with the sea shell charms as decoration. The chains both silver and gold represented to me the years in our relationship. 

To put it together I sawed the cork in half lengthwise, sanding off any rough or irregular areas to make the back flat. Then I glued the cork into the bezel using the Nunn Design Silicone Glue. I prefer this glue as it does not harden and shrink with age, making the seal more permanent. 

After the cork was adhered into the bezel I applied a coating of matte sealant, and I used Claudine Hellmuth's Multi-Medium Matte. The sealant will protect the cork from environmental damage. If you don't mind a bit of shine the glue will do fine as a sealant. (If you are using resin then the glue makes an exleenet sealant for your image.)

The gold chain was attached to the toggle, and the silver ball chain looped inside the toggle, with both being connected to the bezel with a large round twisted jump ring. Both chains need to be about 20" long, with the extra links from the gold chain used as links to attach the charms.

 The twisted circle connector was attached to the bezel with an oveal link from the chain. The sea shell charms and a few 6mm bicones were attached to the connector with oval links from the chain for a nice cohesive look. 

A lovely treasure to remember a lovely weekend at the beach!

Wine cork or some other token or treasure from a memorable experience. Maybe a matchbook cover from dinner, or a picture of the venue of hotel or even small objects from the trip.
