Miyuki Bead Company wants us to know that the treatment and use of certain beads ultimately determines how durable the finishes will be. For example, those beads marked on the chart below as being subject to fading or color changing are, they state, not particularly likely to do so. However, in an "abnormal situation," fading is possible or even likely. As an example, if you make an something using the beads which Miyuki indicates might fade, and it is displayed in a sunny window, it probably will begin to fade sooner or later. Likewise you probably should not make bracelets or necklaces with Delica colors which are known to rub off. Similarly, the beads marked as subject to dry-cleaning changes will generally be okay as long as the dry-cleaning solution is a weak one. But if it is too strong, the coatings on silver-lined and dyed beads will be lost. Finally, colors which Miyuki says may rub off might last years in a woven hanging but be totally inappropriate for a bracelet.
Please note: Hex cut Delicas use the same codes will react in the same way as their smooth counterparts.
Given the range of colors Miyuki produces, and the many ways in which Delica beads are now being used, it is impressive how rarely we hear of problems. However, if you do have a problem please feel free to email and share your observations with us. Please send emails to email@example.com
Any Delicas not listed are considered stable and resistant to A,B and C.
A - Color may fade or change (especially when left in sunlight) or tarnish B - Color might rub off (bright purple & fuchsia are most likely to rub off) C - These beads should not be dry-cleaned (especially important for beaded clothing)
